According to data from Christine Hale Realty Group, the number of homes sold in The Woodlands area decreased in August 2026 compared to August 2025 in seven out of eight studied ZIP codes. The only ZIP code that did not see a decrease was 77389, while the 77354 ZIP code was not included in the data.

Breaking it down: During August, 140 homes sold in the area were in the $200,000-$399,999 price range, representing 44.3% of all homes sold. Median home prices showed mixed changes between August 2025 and August 2026, with the 77389 ZIP code experiencing the largest median price increase of $167,000.

Something to note: Between August 2025 and August 2026, the number of days homes spent on the market increased in the 77384, 77385, 77386, and 77389 ZIP codes, while the 77380 ZIP code experienced a marked decrease.

The backstory: In-Step Dance Center is starting its 28th season at a new location on Sawdust Road. The school has been in operation since 1999, according to owner and operator Dana Sparks. Sparks, who has danced since age 3, opened the studio after returning from Los Angeles.

A long time coming: The studio relocated to 314 Sawdust Road on Aug. 15, which Sparks said has brought increased visibility, space and improved facilities. In-Step also has a location on Spring Trails Ridge in Spring.

What you need to know: Williams Sonoma is now open at Hughes Landing in The Woodlands, according to a news release from Howard Hughes Communities. The store opened on Sept. 18 and is located at 1925 Hughes Landing Blvd., Ste. 300.

The new location offers several types of products, including:

• Small appliances

• Table linens

• Gourmet food

Ben Martin, senior vice president of national retail strategy and leasing for Howard Hughes Communities, noted that the opening brings an iconic brand back to The Woodlands and adds to the development's retail and culinary experiences.

Candidates Letitia Plummer and Orlando Sanchez are running to lead Harris County government.

What you need to know: Plummer, a Democrat and Orlando, a Republican, will face off in November’s general election to become Harris County’s next judge. The judge oversees the Harris County Commissioners Court, which governs the county. The court and county judge are responsible for the about five million residents who live in Harris County.

Before you go: Early voting begins Oct. 19 and runs through Oct. 30, according to the Texas Secretary of State's website. Election day is Nov. 3 and polls will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
