East Wall Street, Oak Grove Loop restriping
Project: Construction will include restriping two Grapevine roadways, East Wall Street from Jenkins Street to Austin Street and Oak Grove Loop from Dove Loop Road to Dove Road. Tarrant County will provide labor, material and equipment for the project, while the city of Grapevine will pay for the material cost and provide traffic control assistance.

Update: Grapevine City Council approved the funding through an interlocal agreement with the county for the restriping project during the May 19 meeting.

Ongoing projects
East Dove Road repaving

Project: Construction will include repaving East Dove Road between North Carroll Avenue and North Kimball Avenue. The project is part of the city’s planned pavement repair projects.

KidsUnited to offer development-focused soccer programs in Grapevine

A new business focused on child development and soccer training, KidsUnited, is set to open in Grapevine later this summer.

What they offer: David Turner, co-owner of the Grapevine location, said the business offers 45-minute classes for children 18 months to 9 years old that focus on socialization, activity-based learning and developing soccer skills in a noncompetitive environment.

“It’s a noncompetitive environment to focus on kids and the mind, body and spirit development before they get into competitive sports,” Turner said. It’s built on a European model to teach kids and help them develop.”

Crunch Fitness, new housing: Check out 5 major construction permits filed in DFW

New gyms and multifamily housing are coming to Dallas-Fort Worth, according to documents filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

1. Twin Creeks Active Adult: A new multifamily development in Allen called Twin Creeks Active Adult from developer CB Jeni Homes is scheduled to start construction in mid-July, TDLR documents state. The development will cover about 6.5 acres and have three stories.

2. EOS Fitness: A new EOS Fitness location is coming to Plano, TDLR documents state. EOS Fitness offers cardio and strength training equipment and gym memberships The company also offers cycle, yoga and group fitness classes, the company website states.

3. Panda Express: A new north Denton Panda Express is scheduled to start construction in June 2027, according to TDLR documents. Panda Express offers quick service Chinese food. The company operates more than 2,600 locations globally, according to the company website.

 
Key Information
Tarrant County heart disease deaths lower than state, national averages

Heart disease was the second-leading cause of death and is responsible for 1 in every 5 deaths among those who live in Tarrant County, according to August 2025 data from Tarrant County Public Health.

However, Tarrant County ranked lower than the Texas and United State averages in heart disease death from 2019-24, according to reports from the county and the Texas Department of State Health Services.

The overview: Heart disease includes conditions such as coronary heart disease, coronary artery disease, angina and health care provider diagnosed heart attacks, the reports state.

From 2015-24, the percentage of adults 18 and older with heart disease dipped slightly from 5.9% to 5.5% in Tarrant County. Heart disease was the top cause of death for males, non-Hispanic black residents, non-Hispanic white residents and people 65 and older, according to data from the county.

Compared to the state of Texas and the United States as a whole, Tarrant County ranked lower in heart disease mortality rate.
