February home sales decline year over year in Tomball, Magnolia area

Home sales in February in the Tomball and Magnolia area declined year over year, according to market data provided by local real estate firm The Renee Leslie Group.

What you need to know: Although home sales increased in three of the five Tomball- and Magnolia-area ZIP codes, total home sales decreased 1.5% year over year in February.

More details: The median price of homes sold year over year in February decreased in three of the five ZIP codes in the Tomball and Magnolia area. 77355 saw the largest percentage decrease of 11.42%—going from $344,999 to $305,586.


One more thing: Of homes sold in the Tomball and Magnolia area in February, 55.1% were priced between $250,000-$499,999.

Cactus Flower Boutique expands in Magnolia

Cactus Flower Boutique has expanded into two additional buildings in Magnolia, owner Trisha Plagens said.

What they offer: The boutique offers women’s clothing with merchandise geared toward grandmothers, moms and teens, Plagens said. The business also carries shoes, accessories, handbags, jewelry, candles, home decor, seasonal decor and gifts for a variety of occasions.
The expansion added a building focused on game-day merchandise, collegiate gifts and accessories, Texas-themed items, sports merchandise, Astros gear, YETI products, men’s gifts and pet gifts, Plagens said.

A third building features seasonal home decor, tabletop items, wedding and bridal gifts, birthday gifts, religious gifts and books, as well as baby clothing and gifts and a tween gift section, she said.

The details: Plagens said the business expanded into the additional buildings late last year after an opportunity arose to grow its product offerings and give customers more variety in one place.

DATA: Most Greater Houston-area school districts saw enrollment losses from 2021-26

Over the last five years, more than half of public school districts across the Greater Houston area lost students, with one district seeing a more than 15% decline in enrollment, according to Texas Education Agency data released March 6.

The overview: Community Impact analyzed data from the TEA to learn how many students were enrolled at public school districts for the 2025-26 school year compared to the 2021-22 school year. 

Zooming in: The districts with the highest percentage of students gained over the last five years—from 2021-26—are:

  • Splendora ISD with 34.6% enrollment growth
  • Lamar CISD with 23.3% enrollment growth
  • Tomball ISD and New Caney ISD with 14.9% enrollment growth each

The districts with the largest percentage of enrollment loss over the last five years—from 2020-25—are:
  • Aldine ISD with 15.4% enrollment decline
  • Houston ISD with 13.3% enrollment decline
  • Pasadena ISD with 10.5% enrollment decline
  • Alief ISD with 10.4% enrollment decline

The Caffeine Collective offers space for women-owned businesses in Magnolia

Jinxie Peruzzi, mother of eight children and business owner of The Caffeine Collective and Buddy and Sis Co., said she founded her own coffee shop to offer a community space for other mothers to feel welcome and at ease in a family-friendly environment.

Along with several coffee classics offered, Peruzzi said her favorite part of the cafe is creating seasonal coffee options, such as the raspberry rose latte and matcha-inspired drinks.

The cafe is also known for its buckets of coffee—34 ounces—and its coffee flights, four mini surprise coffee options for customers who want to try a variety of flavors.
