Colleyville City Council approved the replacement of monument signs and park rule signs across Colleyville parks at the August 4 regular meeting.

The details: The construction of these signs by Legacy Signs of Texas will be phase two of the park signage improvement project. Phase one was approved in June 2025 and included the demolition and construction of new park monument signs at City Park, Kimzey Park, Nature Center Park, and Pleasant Run Park.

The replacements from the park signage improvement project will not exceed $251,655, according to city documents.

Phase two of the park signage project will include updated park rule signs and monument signs in LD Lockett, McPherson, Bransford, Woodbriar, Sparger, Overland and Raegan park. Additionally, two new signs at the Colleyville Nature Center will be built.

Diving deeper: Colleyville Parks and Recreation plans to update park rules signage to include e-bike rules and regulations, according to Lisa Escobedo, the Colleyville Parks and Recreation director.

These signs will include e-bike rules that were adopted at the May 13, 2025 City Council meeting.

Indoor golf simulation facility The Back Nine Golf plans to open in Southlake later this month.

What they offer: The Southlake location will have three private, sound-insulated bays with seating for four, co-owner Reagan Bluth said. The Back Nine utilizes a simulator built by Full Swing to help players track swing speed, launch angles and ball speed as they hit a ball into a projector screen.

Quote of note: “Golfers in the area have shown they want a private, high-quality indoor experience close to home—somewhere to work on their game or just gather with people they care about—and we think Southlake is exactly that kind of community,” Bluth said in an email.

Looking ahead: A grand opening event, which will feature competitions, free food, prizes and a look inside the Southlake location, is planned from noon-5 p.m. Aug. 29, Bluth said.

The airline also plans to include a grab-and-go option inside the initial phase of Terminal F, which is expected to open next year.

The airline will offer flights to Las Vegas and four cities in Florida: Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando and Tampa, according to a June 30 news release.

Within the next year, Texans will likely see changes to when they can vote early in elections, including expanded weekend voting hours.

The overview: Last year, state lawmakers passed Senate Bill 2753, which shifts Texas’ early voting window closer to election day, cutting out a three-day gap between the two voting periods and adding more Saturday and Sunday voting.

While the changes did not take effect immediately and were designed to help boost voter turnout, local election administrators said the law will also significantly raise costs for municipalities and delay the release of election results.

Election officials said the current three-day break allows staff to set up polling places for election day and prepare submitted ballots so results from early and mail-in voting can be released quickly after the polls close on election night.

The impact: Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth estimated that the shift would raise the cost of administering a large election by 30% and increase costs for smaller elections by 9%, due to personnel, equipment and voter education needs.
