PREVIEW: College Station ISD board to consider more than $825K in AV upgrades at high schools

College Station ISD’s board of trustees will meet April 21 to approve several technology and classroom equipment purchases funded through voter-approved funds, according to its meeting agenda. The board will also be reviewing campus updates.

The gist: Several agenda items involve classroom technology upgrades, funded through the district’s 2021 and 2023 bond programs. Proposed purchases include:

  • $263,762 in district management technology
  • $826,748 in audiovisual equipment at A&M Consolidated and College Station high schools, as well as career and technical classrooms and arena

Also on the agenda: 
  • Submitting a carryover request of $190,000 in unused Head Start fundsunused Head Start funds
  • Approving athletic supplies and services for the 2026-27 school year
  • Accepting donations
  • Approving a right-of-way easement agreement with the city of Bryan for the CTE Center

PREVIEW: Brazos County commissioners to consider $7.8M in hospital funding transfers

Brazos County commissioners will meet April 21 to consider nearly $7.8 million in funding transfers to support local hospitals and Medicaid-related health programs. They will also consider infrastructure, public safety and development items.

What you need to know: The largest agenda items involve two intergovernmental transfers to the Texas HHS Commission.

Commissioners will consider approving:

  • Up to $779,926 for the Hospital Augmented Reimbursement Program
  • Up to $7 million for the ATLIS for Client Health Outcomes program

Items worth mentioning: Many infrastructure and development items are on the agenda, including road reconstruction bids and Comcast’s continued installation work across the county.

Commissioners are also expected to:
  • Consider participation in a new national opioid settlement agreement
  • Review a recount audit from the March 2026 primary election
  • Consider approval for the Public Defenders Office to apply for Texas Indigent Defense Commission grants

Find out which Greater Houston school districts have the most students transferring in, out

Thousands of students who live in the Greater Houston area public school boundaries are attending another district or a charter school during the 2025-26 school year, with Houston, Alief and Fort Bend ISDs seeing the highest numbers, according to Texas Education Agency data released March 5.

The overview: Community Impact reviewed TEA data from the 2025-26 school year to determine the number of students departing public school districts and where they were transferring. 

By the numbers: The data from 28 Greater Houston school districts shows the ones with the highest transfer numbers were:

  • Houston ISD with 60,430 net transfers out

  • Alief ISD with 10,629 net transfers out

  • Fort Bend ISD with 9,197 net transfers out

  • Cypress-Fairbanks ISD with 7,075 net transfers out

  • Aldine ISD with 6,620 net transfers out

Also of note: The data also shows some school districts saw a net increase in enrollment from transfers in 2025-26, including Deer Park, Friendswood, Galena Park and Montgomery ISDs.
