Humble ISD's rebuilt Foster Elementary School set to open in August

Humble ISD’s rebuilt Foster Elementary School is set to open to students on Aug. 12 for the first day of the 2026-27 school year, according to the campus's website.

The details: The roughly $44 million, 122,000-square-foot campus—which is located in close proximity to the old campus—is part of a $775 million bond package approved by voters in May 2022.

Construction on the new campus initially began in September 2024, according to previous reporting by Community Impact.

Across the six ZIP codes combined that make up Community Impact's Lake Houston-Humble-Kingwood coverage area, data for July 2026 compared with data for July 2025 shows:

What to know about tax-free weekend in Texas, Aug. 7-9

Ahead of the 2026 school year, the Texas Comptroller’s Office encourages all taxpayers to support Texas businesses while saving money on tax-free purchases on most clothing and school supplies during the annual tax-free weekend from Aug. 7-9.
