Here are 12 updates on Cedar Park-area businesses, including ones now open and coming soon.

Now open: 

Happy Health & Wellness: The clinic, which moved from its Lago Vista location to Cedar Park, offers a variety of medical services.

Precious Chinese BBQ: A fast-casual Cantonese restaurant, the concept features a signature specialty known as siu mei, or Hong Kong barbecue.

Southern Steer Butcher: The store offers a range of artisanal cuts of meat, including poultry and pork, alongside a variety of prepared sides, appetizers and desserts.

Duff's Famous Wings: Duff’s offers both traditional and boneless wings, which come with a variety of buffalo and specialty sauces.

Coming soon:

Dave’s Hot Chicken: The spicy fried chicken restaurant will open a new location in Cedar Park, serving fried chicken tenders and sandwiches, French fries, fried mozzarella, and milkshakes.

SafeSplash Swim School: The business will offer swimming and water safety lessons year-round and feature heated indoor pools, co-owner Arpit Shah said.

Construction on district projects to modernize campuses, enhance spaces for athletic and extracurricular programming, and improve infrastructure is underway in Round Rock ISD this summer.

The details: All projects are funded by the $932 million bond package voters passed in 2024.

Project: RRISD will remodel a 200,000-square-foot former LegalZoom building into a central hub for career and technical education programs.
Update: The district broke ground on the facility remodel over the summer.

Ongoing projects

Austin seeks public feedback on Cesar Chavez Street renaming: The city is seeking public feedback on the potential renaming of Cesar Chavez Street following some City Council members' request for the change earlier this year. The city is asking residents whether the street should be renamed, and if so, what designation to use as a replacement. Council will take that input before making any final decisions. Three public meetings about the renaming process will be held from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. on Aug. 11 at the Central Library and  Aug. 15 at Sanchez Elementary School, and Aug. 18 via a virtual webinar.

CapMetro's Bikeshare service to resume Aug. 11: After a temporary service suspension due to an operations facility fire, Capital Metro officials announced that its rentable electric-assist bike service Bikeshare will return in phases beginning Aug. 11. Nearly one-third of the Bikeshare fleet will be available for riding by Aug. 18 in priority areas with the highest customer demand

Ascension Seton will launch a mobile stroke unit in 2027 to serve Central Texans after receiving a $1.25 million from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. The unit will be the state’s third mobile stroke facility, joining ones in Houston and El Paso. 

Dive deeper: The stroke unit will serve as “a miniature emergency room on wheels,” said Dr. Rachel B. Pearson, a neurologist at Ascension Seton in Round Rock. The goal is to meet patients where they are, delivering life-saving stroke treatment as quickly as possible, she said. 

The features: The mobile stroke unit will have all of the features of a traditional ambulance, as well as a CT scanner for imaging, equipment for basic labs and the “clot-busting drug” designed exclusively to treat stroke patients. 

Why it matters: Having the mobile unit will eliminate some of the treatment delays by traveling to patients, treating them in the field and taking them to the hospital. The mobile unit will initially serve Williamson County and will later assess the needs of surrounding areas.
