Tutto Italian Kitchen prepares Italian dishes steeped in tradition in McKinney

Prior to opening Tutto Italian Kitchen in McKinney, married couple Alessio Arzola and Sadia Grimaldi Arzola were speaking in Italian with some friends and when asked what would be on the menu, Alessio Arzola answered, “A bit of everything.”

“‘Everything’ in Italian is ‘Tutto,’” Alessio Arzola said. “When I said the word ‘Tutto’, it just clicked. It sounds nice, is fun to say and easy to remember.”

The setup: The Arzolas, who opened Tutto Italian Kitchen in 2024, said the menu features mostly southern Italian recipes with a few northern-Italian and American-Italian dishes.

On the menu: Alessio Arzola said his primary focus is on creating savory dishes while Sadia Grimaldi Arzola concentrates on sweet dishes and baked items.

Alessio Arzola believes that his commitment to tradition is the key reason their lasagna has become one of the restaurant’s top-selling dishes.

Grand opening planned for Verlo Mattress in McKinney’s West Grove

Verlo Mattress is debuting a location in McKinney’s West Grove in November, store representatives confirmed.

The gist: The store, a franchise of the Wisconsin-based company, offers a variety of handcrafted and adjustable mattresses made locally, Franchise Owner Jake Tomes said. Tomes opened the business’s Dallas factory in spring of 2024, and opened his first retail store in Dallas in August of that same year. The McKinney store is the second retail location for Tomes, who is committed to bringing five Verlo Mattress locations to North Texas, he said.

Diving in deeper: The store offers five mattress collections, as well as custom mattress sizes and shapes that can be made to fit in spaces such as RVs and custom bed frames. Mattresses sold at the store are built at the Dallas factory and are assembled with a zipper cover that allows for comfort adjustments to the mattress.

Get involved: A grand opening celebration, planned for 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Nov. 15, will include music, food and giveaways.

Nov. 4 election: Proposition 14 could make Texas a ‘leader’ in dementia research

Approximately 460,000 Texans have Alzheimer's disease, a progressive brain disorder that affects memory, thinking and behavior. Advocates are encouraging Texas voters to approve State Proposition 14, a proposed constitutional amendment that would allow the state to spend $3 billion to launch the Dementia Prevention and Research Institute of Texas.

The overview: Proposition 14 would allocate $3 billion in state dollars to fund the institute for the next 10 years. The institute would work with researchers and doctors to study the prevention and treatment of various neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and dementia.

All funding for the institute would come from existing state revenue, donations and potential federal grants, meaning no new state taxes or fees would be created.

What they're saying: "If Proposition 14 passes, it really will establish Texas as an incredible leader in our country," neurological researcher Joshua Shulman said.

At the polls: Early voting runs through Oct. 31, and Election Day is Nov. 4. For more information about the propositions and candidates on your local ballot, visit www.communityimpact.com/voter-guide.
