With most of last year’s $192.3 million bond package rejected by voters, Prosper leaders are shifting their focus to planning for the future, emphasizing stronger communication and more collaboration among town leaders.
What happened: Prosper Town Council members and local officials met Feb. 10 for a town visioning session to reflect on the past year and identify priorities for 2026.
What you need to know: Town leaders discussed the town’s key visioning priorities for 2026, including diversifying the town’s tax base, prioritizing key infrastructure projects and further positioning the town as a health care hub. Mayor David Bristol said that in light of the bond results, town officials are reassessing how to fund projects, likely shifting to a pay-as-you-go model and finding new revenue sources.
Quote of note: “Elections have repercussions,” Bristol said. “There’s going to be impacts maybe not this year or next year, but it’s going to be four, five, seven years down the road.”
