Frost Bank officials are planning to construct a new branch in Valley Ranch Town Center, per an Aug. 12 TDLR filing. Construction is expected to begin in November and wrap up by June 2027.

The new 5,336-square-foot building will be built from the ground up and feature a one-story branch, per the filing.

What they offer: Frost Bank offers personal, small business and commercial banking services online and in person, according to the website. Services offered include checking accounts, savings accounts, loans and investment services.

Founded in 1868, Frost Bank has over 200 locations in Texas today.

New Caney ISD received a C rating for the 2025-26 school year, but was one point from receiving a B rating, in the Texas Education Agency’s accountability ratings for school districts statewide, released Aug. 14.

NCISD received 79 out of 100 points for 2025-26, TEA data shows.

The district received 72 out of 100 points for 2023-24 and 75 out of 100 points for 2024-25, as previously reported.

Notable quote: “We are encouraged by the progress reflected in this year’s accountability results,” NCISD Superintendent Matt Calvert said via an Aug. 14 emailed statement. “While we recognize there is still important work ahead, the data shows improvement across the major accountability measures. Accountability ratings are one measure of our work, but they are also a valuable opportunity to step back, celebrate progress, and identify where we can get better.”

The Texas Education Agency released public school accountability ratings for the 2025-26 school year on Aug. 14.

"We use [A-F ratings] as a way to evaluate our own performance as adults, and then build action plans so that the way that we run our schools next year can be even better than last year," Education Commissioner Mike Morath said during an Aug. 14 news conference.

The overview: Across the state, 85% of campuses received a C rating or higher, which is considered “acceptable" academic performance.

Schools are rated based on three criteria: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps.

Zooming in: At least one district, Austin ISD, is at risk of being taken over by the TEA after two of its middle school campuses received their fifth consecutive failing grades this year. State law requires the agency to shutter those campuses or take control of the district.

Any potential state-mandated closures or takeovers will not happen immediately, as districts with concerns about their ratings have through Sept. 11 to appeal scores to the TEA.
