Mariel brothers to bring City Futsal to Grapevine

A pair of former SMU soccer players will be bringing a soccer facility to Grapevine.

During the joint meeting between the Grapevine City Council and Grapevine Planning and Zoning Commission Sept. 16, both boards passed the conditional use permit request by Esteban Mariel and Manuel Mariel.

Stay tuned: The twins plan to open their third City Futsal location in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Manuel Mariel said Sept. 17, the plan is for the business to open in the spring/summer of 2026.

The details: The planned facility at 3560 N. Grapevine Mills Blvd. N. is at The Shops at Grapevine Mills Crossing. There will be three futsal courts, a turf warm-up area and a 30-foot-tall canopy covering the three courts that will be 31,440 square feet, according to the presentation.

Zooming in: According to city documents, the covered areas will have two turf fields and one futsal court, essentially soccer but on a basketball court-like surface.

True Classic to bring men's clothing store to Southlake

True Classic is bringing a men’s clothing store to Southlake.

A sign has been placed windows in the spot of the former housed Hey Day store in Southlake Town Square. Hey Day had been in Southlake since Jan. 16, 2023, according to previous reporting.

The details: True Classic produces butter-soft, affordable, high-quality fitted premium tees for men that are super versatile and can be worn for any occasion, according to its website. They also sell jeans, chinos, active wear, dress shirts, underwear and accessories.

Hinoki is currently open in Frisco for lunch and dinner, offering a variety of menu items.

The restaurant offers a signature six course meal that includes appetizers, nigiri, soup and sweets.

The new restaurant also offers individual menu items such as edamame on the appetizer menu and marinated cod on the lunch and dinner menu.

Tous les Jours could be opening a location in Richardson, according to documents filed with the state.

The bakery is a French-Asian fushion restaurant and will offer breads, cakes, sandwiches, pastries and pies in a variety of flavors. It also offers coffee, tea and other specialty drinks.

An opening date is unknown, but documents indicate construction could wrap up in early 2026.

American Cancer Society, Occidental partner to expand access to cancer care in Texas

Per a Sept. 12 press release, the American Cancer Society and Occidental have partnered to expand access to life-saving cancer treatment to patients across Texas. Occidental’s half-million-dollar donation will help the American Cancer Society continue to deliver the resources patients need to access cancer care that could save their lives.

The details: With the new contribution, Occidental is helping fund essential access to care programs that remove barriers often standing between diagnosis and survival for cancer patients, according to the release.

Programs the partnership is helping with include free lodging, rides to treatment and 24/7 support for cancer patients and caregivers.

Quote of note: “We are honored to contribute to the American Cancer Society and help remove barriers to accessing vital care so people can focus on their healing journey,” said Rob Stevens, vice president of supply chain with Occidental.
