Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Villas unveiled its 2.2-acre swimming lagoon on March 5 during a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The details: Completing a more than $100 million renovation of the resort over a three-year period, the ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the completion of the Big Spring swimming lagoon, which features white sand beaches and offers water sport activities in the Hill Country. The ceremony also marked the completion of the resort's multi-phase renovation.

“[The Big Spring Lagoon] transforms how we sell and how guests experience this resort. It enhances our ability to grow business, while adding [a new] aquatic experience alongside our iconic lazy river,” said Steve Smith, general manager of Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Villas. “This has been a period of strong reinvestment and growth for our resort. Discount car dealership, Clear Choice Automotive, has relocated.

What happened: Clear Choice Automotive relocated from 3803 San Pedro Ave., near Hwy. 281, to 11150 N. I-35 frontage road on Jan. 21, staff told Community Impact.

This discount car dealership sells a range of new and used vehicles from various makes and models.

Schlitterbahn New Braunfels Waterpark Resort, located at 400 N. Liberty Ave., will have a new ride for visitors this summer.

The details: The waterpark and its parent company, Six Flags Entertainment Corp., will be opening a new ride called Wasserbahn Racers on May 2, according to a news release.

The ride will feature three face-first water slides, which will pit riders head-to-head in a timed drop to see who can get to the bottom fastest, said Cyle Perez, regional manager of public relations of Six Flags Fiesta Texas.

Justin Loehr, park manager at Schlitterbahn New Braunfels, said the park has helped generations of families build memories, and the new ride aims to continue that tradition.

"The park is excited to introduce an all-new attraction while continuing to enhance classic favorites across the property. We cannot wait to see guests race for bragging rights this summer," Loehr said in the release.
