Gingerbread House Making
Children ages 3 and up are invited to build and decorate a gingerbread house with gumdrops, peppermints and frosting. Each enrollment receives one gingerbread house to decorate.

County, state officials aim to preserve developer-owned green space near Benders Landing

Officials from Montgomery and Harris counties are working with state officials in hopes of preserving a large tract of land poised for development near Benders Landing, per a Dec. 11 news release.

What's happening? Per the release, Montgomery County Precinct 3 Commissioner Ritch Wheeler, Harris County Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom Ramsey and state Rep. Steve Toth, R-The Woodlands, are working with representatives from Gov. Greg Abbott's Office and General Land Office Commissioner Dawn Buckingham to explore options for preserving the land, which is located between Spring Creek and the West Fork of the San Jacinto River.

Some context: Previously owned by RYKO Development and slated for the construction of 7,000 new homes, the land was sold to Scarborough Group earlier this year. During a town hall in April, Wheeler said area residents expressed concerns about the development's potential impact on traffic, flooding and drainage.

Why it matters: Wheeler noted the green space preservation, if successful, could be beneficial to residents in both Montgomery and Harris counties.

CPAP Concierge new medical testing and equipment now open

A new medical testing and equipment service to treat sleep apnea opened on Oct. 1 in The Woodlands said Grant Stevens, a spokesperson from the company.

The details: CPAP Concierge offers sleep testing and the equipment needed to treat apnea at the same location. Additionally, it offers ongoing resupply support and follow-up education and treatment, Stevens said. CPAP Concierge is a local, community driven business focused on delivering better sleep, Stevens said.

Tomball ISD approves new high school attendance boundaries

At its regular meeting Dec. 10, Tomball ISD trustees approved new high school boundaries for the 2026-2027 school year. The new boundaries are set to coincide with the district's newest high school, Tomball West, opening next August.

The context: This will be the third and final part of TISD’s district rezoning process. The district's efforts for boundary redesign began in October 2023. The high school attendance zones will only affect ninth and 10th grades, and not 11th and 12th grades, as previously reported.

What else: According to district estimations, TWHS will have a student enrollment of 843 in its first year.

Check out these new restaurants and bars opening across the Houston area.

Co-founded by rapper and entrepreneur Bun B, Trill Burgers opened Dec. 10 in Missouri City.

The restaurant serves classic smashed burgers, including the signature OG Burger, the Triple Vegan OG Burger and Lil G, according to a news release.

Taste Kitchen + Bar opened its second location in Sugar Land on Dec. 10, offering a lakefront patio and private dining room.
