Gemini Logistics, a Texas-based package delivery company and Amazon Delivery Service Partner, will open a new hub in north Fort Worth.

The details: Foundry Commercial, a commercial real estate firm, announced in a July 21 news release that it will break ground on the Gemini Logistics Center at the intersection of Meacham Boulevard and Gemini Place in Fort Worth.

The 15-acre Class-A industrial development will encompass 192,000 square feet across two buildings, according to the release.

The release states that Foundry Commercial noted that economic and population growth along the I-35W corridor helped shape the decision to locate the Gemini Logistics Center in north Fort Worth.

Gemini Logistics is based in Austin and currently services the Austin and Buda, Texas, areas, according to its website.

Making cheesecakes was a hobby for Michael Vespa while growing up in New Jersey. As he got older, he would still make them for family and friends, simply known as Michael’s cheesecake. 

The hobby eventually turned into Sweetie’s Cheesecakes, a cheesecake shop and catering business, in north Fort Worth.

Digging deeper: Sweetie’s Cheesecakes attends several festivals throughout the year. Michael Vespa said the fall is the busiest season, from festivals to Ocktoberfest events to Christmas markets. He says they take anywhere from eight to 14 different cheesecake flavors to events.

Many of the festivals they have attended have sparked flavors such as mango habanero, peach moruga or chocolate reaper. There’s also been one-off flavors like lavender cheesecake at the Blanco Lavender Festival, an Irish cream cheesecake for the North Texas Irish Festival or an oatmeal caramel cheesecake for the Bertram Oatmeal Festival.

Looking ahead: For August, the seasonal menu will include S’mores, hibiscus, peach melba, whiskey peach and raspberry hatch.

The Second Annual North Texas Bookstore Crawl runs throughout August and features 33 independently owned bookstores.

This year’s event runs Aug. 1-31 and includes bookstores from Grapevine, Plano, McKinney, Denton and Fort Worth.

The overview: The North Texas Bookstore Crawl was inspired by similar events that take place in Austin and Houston, and is meant to encourage readers to check out local independent bookstores throughout North Texas, per the news release. 

Throughout August, individuals can pick up a passport from participating bookstores or download one online and collect stamps across North Texas. 

Quote of note: "We were overwhelmed by the enthusiasm for last year's inaugural Crawl," said Katy Lemieux, co-owner of Talking Animals Books, in a news release. "We chose August because it is relatively slow for sales at the end of summer, and we all saw huge increases in revenue during August 2025. Independent bookstores aren't competitors, we're truly collaborators.”

American Express will expand its Centurion Lounge at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.

The $35 million project, according to a state filing, will expand and renovate the lounge into a neighboring space near Gate D12 at Terminal D at DFW Airport.

The details: The expansion will make the lounge nearly 50% larger, adding more seating, a new dining area, a walk-up ice cream window and a second full-service bar, according to a news release.

The expected opening will be in 2027, according to a news release. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filings show an estimated completion date for the 18,000-square-foot project of Nov. 19, 2027.
