The Chevron Championship to move from The Woodlands to Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston

The Chevron Championship will move from The Club at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands to Memorial Park in Houston this year, Chevron U.S.A. Inc. and the Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour announced on Jan. 7.

What's happening: The move brings the event closer to Chevron's new corporate headquarters and downtown Houston, according to the news release. The event will take place April 23-26.

The context: The championship had moved to The Woodlands in 2023, Community Impact previously reported. The event was held at the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course at The Club at Carlton Woods.

The Woodlands also hosts the Insperity Invitational as part of the PGA Tour, which will take place this year May 4-10, according to Visit The Woodlands, the township's convention and visitors bureau.

Legacy Preparatory Christian Academy Performing Arts Center to open June 6

The Legacy Preparatory Christian Academy Performing Arts Center is currently under construction with a planned June 6 opening date, according to the school.

The details: The 26,500-square-foot building will consist of a performance space and educational spaces associated with performing arts, including a classroom, rehearsal space, scene shop and costume shop, according to the school.

Montgomery County Food Bank names 2026 gala honorees ahead of fundraiser

Montgomery County Food Bank will spotlight four community partners during its 2026 Fighting Hunger, Feeding Hope Gala, set for Saturday, Feb. 7 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott, according to a Jan. 6 news release.

What’s happening?: The gala serves as the food bank’s signature fundraiser and supports hunger relief through its network of partner agencies. The organization said each donated dollar can provide up to four meals.

This year’s theme, “Through the Looking Glass,” invites guests to consider what the county can accomplish “when our community comes together in generosity and compassion,” the release states.

Per the release, the 2026 gala honorees are:

  • ExxonMobil, Community Partner of the Year
  • St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Partner Agency of the Year
  • Fortifi Food Processing Solutions, Volunteer of the Year
  • Ann Snyder, Legacy Award

The overview: As Community Impact enters its third decade, it’s returning to its roots of growth and deeper reader connections. The “Patron” program, which began in 2020 by reader demand, has relaunched as InCIder.

“This relaunch represents our renewed commitment to readers who support our local news,” CEO John Garrett said. “Beyond funding great journalism, we also want to reward our InCIders and build deeper connections with them, creating a true sense of community around the work we do.”

Event details: As part of the new program, Community Impact is hosting InCIder Hours across the state, events designed to celebrate and engage the company’s top supporters.

Houston’s first InCIder Hour will take place from 5:30-7 p.m. Jan. 21 at Community Impact’s Houston headquarters, 16300 Northwest Freeway, Jersey Village.

Guests will have the opportunity to network with fellow InCIders, meet Community Impact staff and attend a moderated real estate-focused panel.
