Lukas Western Wear to offer boots, western apparel at Golden Triangle Mall

After nearly a year of running pop-up events and online sales, Lukas Western Wear will open its first brick-and-mortar location at Golden Triangle Mall later this year, owners Omar and Airam Sandoval said.

The business offers cowboy hats, boots and Western-themed men’s and women’s clothing.

Some background: Omar and Airam Sandoval started the company in October 2025 and have sold their goods through pop-up shops and around Dallas-Fort Worth.

The company is named after Omar and Airam Sandoval’s son, Lukas.

Looking ahead: Lukas Western Wear will open in the space previously occupied by Francesca’s before the company’s liquidation in February.

Explorium Children's Museum to close amid search for new location

The Explorium Denton Children’s Museum will close in early August while the company searches for a new location, museum manager Sierah Haines said.

The takeaway: Haines said the Explorium is looking to grow and is searching for a space that can accommodate the expansion.

In 2024, Denton County Friends of the Family, a nonprofit domestic abuse victim advocacy group, acquired the Explorium in an effort to expand its services to children in Denton, according to the Explorium’s website.

“The Denton County Friends of the Family are really looking to revitalize [the Explorium],” Haines said.

1. Allen police chief shares update on city's automated license plate reader program

The Allen Police Department uses automated license plate readers, or ALPRs, as a tool to enhance public safety, according to Police Chief Steve Dye. The readers can support patrol operations and assist in criminal operations by identifying vehicles associated with outstanding warrants, criminal investigations, Amber Alerts and other law enforcement purposes.

2. Aveda closes Stonebriar Centre location in Frisco

Aveda offered health and beauty services and body care. It offered products for hair, skin and more. Aveda products will still be available online.

Hopdoddy Burger Bar acquired by New York-based restaurant group

Austin-based restaurant Hopdoddy Burger Bar has been acquired by by Founders Table Restaurant Group.

What's happening: Hopdoddy CEO Jeff Chandler will transition to an advisory role. Hopdoddy Vice President of Operations Kenny Jett will assume the role of president.

"I've had the privilege of seeing firsthand what makes this brand so special—from our incredible team members to the loyal guests who support us every day," Jett said in a news release. "I'm honored to step into this role and excited to build on the strong foundation we've created as we continue growing the brand."

The background: Hopdoddy was founded in Austin in 2010 and has 47 locations today, including in Houston, Dallas and San Antonio.

Founders Table was founded in 2020. The brand's portfolio includes Chopt Creative Salad Company, Dos Toros Taqueria and Protein Bar & Kitchen.
