Boerne City Council holds first budget, tax rate public hearing
Boerne City Council on Aug. 26 held the first public hearing for the fiscal year 2025-26 budget and tax rate.
Breaking it down: Finance Director Sarah Buckelew said the annual budget is around $181 million, and capital improvement projects make up around 32% of expenditures. The general fund, which covers daily operations and expenses, accounts for $43 million of the budget, while city utilities are expected to cost approximately $88 million. City utilities revenue comes from rate payers rather than property taxes.
Also of note: The proposed tax rate to support the FY 2025-26 budget remains unchanged from the previous fiscal year at $0.4716 per $100 valuation. While the tax rate will be unchanged, taxes paid to the city will depend on individual property appraisal values.
A local financial group has relocated its headquarters in the Hill Country.
In case you missed it: ADKF has moved its offices from 616 E. Blanco Road, Ste. 300 E., to 371 N. Main St., Ste. 202, up the stairs on the second floor of the Jefferson Bank building.
The company’s secretary told Community Impact that they made the move in early August.
“This move allows us to better serve our clients in a more spacious and updated environment,” ADKF announced on its website.
Some context: The accounting firm has several Certified Public Accountants who help clients with taxes, general accounting, business valuations, consulting and more.
Honey Mercantile buzzing with coffee, gifts in North San Antonio

How we got here: Lange said that her journey at Honey Mercantile began after leaving her corporate executive job.
“It’s the best thing that ever happened to me,” she said. “Sometimes, you know, it’s all you need to take the next step.”

What’s special about it: More than anything, Lange said her shop has really brought the community together in North San Antonio.
“This business is my love letter to the community,” she said. “We’re not just a store, and so many wonderful people and neighbors have come out to support us.”
