Leasing underway for remaining 2 phases in Fort Bend Town Center

Texas-based developer NewQuest Properties is adding over 700,000 square feet of retail, entertainment and restaurants to Missouri City’s Fort Bend Town Center.

The development—located on Highway 6 and Fort Bend Parkway—is underway with its second and third stages, according to NewQuest’s website.

About the development: Fort Bend Town Center’s first stage—anchored by a 102,000-square-foot Kroger—includes Wells Fargo, Subway and Burger King, according to a brochure for the center.

According to NewQuest, the nearly 300,000-square-foot second phase consists of:

  • 200,000 square feet of retail
  • 50,000 square feet of entertainment
  • 45,000 square feet of restaurants

Meanwhile, the development’s third phase has 11 spaces totaling 336,103 square feet available for lease, with three spots already leased, including one for a 104,759-square-foot wholesale club, according to the brochure.

Pearl Lake Pointe groundbreaking marks Sugar Land's 1st multifamily apartment in 13 years

As Sugar Land’s Lake Pointe District undergoes redevelopment, Pearl Lake Pointe is the latest project to break ground on the former Fluor Corp. campus. The luxury apartment complex was developed by Morgan, a Houston-based multifamily investment group. 

The site is among the few parcels in Sugar Land zoned for multifamily housing, and the first to be approved since 2012, according to a Dec. 10 release.

What to expect: According to the release, final delivery of the the 6.46-acre site overlooking Brooks Lake will include a five-story community with 376 luxury residences, blending “urban living with resort-style amenities,” including:

  • A pool
  • Fitness centers
  • A golf simulator
  • A fifth-floor sky lounge with lake views
  • A first-floor cafe
  • 9,940 square feet of commercial office space
  • A six-story parking garage

Notable quote: “After years of planning and collaboration with Morgan, this project delivers much-needed, high-quality multifamily housing and strengthens our long-term vision for a vibrant, connected district,” Sugar Land Mayor Carol K. McCutcheon said in the release.

Fort Bend County approves 2% toll road rate increase

Fort Bend Parkway, Westpark Tollway and Grand Parkway will all see toll rate increases beginning in 2026.

The details: Fort Bend County commissioners unanimously approved the 2% rate increase suggested by the Fort Bend County Toll Road Authority and Fort Bend Grand Parkway Toll Road Authority at a Dec. 4 meeting.

What’s next: The adjusted rates will go into effect Jan. 1, 2026, per agenda documents.

Co-founded by rapper and entrepreneur Bun B, Trill Burgers opened Dec. 10 in Missouri City.

The restaurant serves classic smashed burgers, including the signature OG Burger, the Triple Vegan OG Burger and Lil G, according to a news release.

Taste Kitchen + Bar opened its second location in Sugar Land on Dec. 10, offering a lakefront patio and private dining room.

The menu features Southern cuisine curated by Houston Chef Don Bowie, including Cajun seafood and grits, lobster BLTs and jerk lamb chops.
