Plano commission approves preliminary site plan for 242-unit independent living facility

A new Watermere facility passed another step in development after Plano’s planning and zoning commission approved its preliminary site plan at a meeting Aug. 17.

Two-minute impact: The new independent living facility from Integrated Senior Lifestyles is planned to have 242 units within a 5-story building, according to city documents.

Dig deeper: Aging-in-place seniors are contributing to Plano’s housing shortage due to a lack of senior housing options in the city, according to a housing study conducted by the city in 2023.

The new building is part of an $825 million bond program approved by voters in 2019, per previous reporting.

2. Presbyterian Homes at Colleyville: A new independent living, assisted living and memory care facility is under construction in Colleyville. The new facility was first approved under a different name in June 2024, per previous reporting. The facility is estimated to be 241,0000 square-feet.
  • Location: 913 Cheek Sparker Road, Colleyville
  • Estimated timeline: Sept. 1 2026-Oct. 30, 2028
  • Estimated cost: $63 million

Utsav Indian Cuisine & Bar opens new Frisco restaurant

Utsav Indian Cuisine & Bar has opened a new restaurant in Frisco. 

What to know: The restaurant opened its doors Aug. 14 and offers south and north Indian cuisine, featuring kebabs, fried rice and noodle dishes, biryani dishes, vegetarian and non-vegetarian curry dishes, soups and mandis.

The Frisco location marks Utsav Indian Cuisine & Bar's second location in North Texas.
