Mineral hot springs spa WorldSprings ‘no longer moving forward’ in Cedar Park

The Cedar Park location of WorldSprings, a spa centered around soaking pools and mineral springs, is “no longer moving forward to our understanding,” said Arthur Jackson, chief economic development officer with the city of Cedar Park.

The details: When asked by Community Impact, WorldSprings declined to comment in depth.

“While we are always looking at expansion opportunities, we do not currently have an update on the Austin location,” a company spokesperson said.

The background: Previously announced plans for the development included over 40 soaking pools and artificial mineral springs that would be designed to mimic various bodies of water around the world. The concept included a blend of hot and cold springs as well as larger freshwater pools.

Cedar Park Chamber CEO headed to Richardson

The Richardson Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors appointed Anthony Moline as the organization’s new president and CEO, according to a news release from the chamber. Moline will step into the position Sept. 1.

The gist: Moline has led Cedar Park’s Chamber of Commerce for 14 years, the release states, during which he tripled the group’s revenue, grew membership and achieved five-star accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Former president and CEO Julie Snyder stepped down from her position at the end of May. Kim Quirk has served as the chamber’s interim president since Snyder’s resignation.

Quote of note: “I am so thrilled to join the Richardson Chamber and get back home to North Texas,” Moline said in the release. “I have such a respect for the organization and the city and what all has been accomplished in recent years. It will be an honor to be part of the continued success.”

City Council faces final budget decisions on social service changes, funding priorities

City Council is set to adopt Austin's fiscal year 2026-27 budget and property tax rate as soon as Aug. 12. The decision will cap off weeks of review that largely centered on the anticipated loss of social services funding, and various strategies to fill those gaps.

The details: Much of the public focus on the FY 2026-27 budget has been on the anticipated loss of millions of dollars for services from housing to public health. Some residents have also spoken out against a tax rate increase and other rising city costs, and many have asked to specifically hold Austin Police funding flat.

Most city departments will likely see budget increases to address annual cost drivers like employee raises and rising expenses due to broader economic trends. Council members also floated several budget amendments, and will have to decide which to include in their final spending plan and how they'll be funded. Those changes cover added resident services, new city equipment, and a plan to separate 911 call-taking from the police department.
