NISD approves new attendance boundaries for the 2026-27 school year

Northwest ISD officials unanimously voted to reconfigure new attendance boundaries in preparation of two schools opening in the upcoming school year during their regular board meeting Jan. 12.

The gist: Finalized district boundary changes include:

  • A new elementary school boundary for Romer Elementary School
  • A new middle school boundary for Barksdale Middle School
  • Shifting some of Chisholm Trail Middle School’s boundaries to Pike Middle School
  • Shifting Berkshire Elementary School to fully feed into Adams Middle School
  • Shifting school boundaries for Hatfield and Praire View elementary schools in preparation for future home development

The two new schools, Romer Elementary School and Barksdale Middle School, will alleviate overcrowding for Carter and Prairie View elementary schools and Medlin and Pike middle schools, according to a district release.

WheelCraft Studio celebrates grand opening in Fort Worth

A new community-based creative space along Park Vista Circle celebrated its grand opening at the beginning of January.

The details: WheelCraft Studio offers pottery, painting and glass art classes for adults, according to its website. The studio also has art classes and day camps for kids and opportunities for private events and parties.

Membership opportunities at the studio start at a rate of $200 per month. Members receive the following:

  • Unlimited studio hours from 7 a.m.-10 p.m.
  • Private shelf for storing work
  • Access to pottery tools and equipment
  • Studio glazes
  • Microwave- and dishwasher-safe firings to cone 6
  • Member break room and kitchen

Pixel Jump now open, offering interactive games in Fort Worth

A new interactive experience kicked off 2026 with its soft opening in Fort Worth.

The details: Pixel Jump is an immersive virtual event space where guests can play interactive arcade-like games or take on unique scenarios in immersive rooms, according to its website.

Each room offers a one-of-a-kind setting where individuals or teams can play new games in rooms powered by lights and sensors.

“We’re excited to officially open Pixel Jump and bring a fun, energetic space to the community where families and friends can come together, stay active and make lasting memories,” Pixel Jump officials said.
