The city of New Braunfels is inviting residents to shape the future of Northwest Park—a 145-acre park area located along FM 1102 south of Conrads Lane.

What residents should know: There will be an open-house-style public meeting from 5:30-7 p.m. Oct. 15 at the New Braunfels Utilities Service Center, located at 355 FM 306. Individuals who are unable to attend in person will have other opportunities to give their feedback online following the opening house, according to a news release.

City staff and the park’s design team will introduce master plan concepts and collect feedback from individuals who attend the meeting. The 145-acre property is envisioned to have a mix of recreational facilities, trails and conservation areas, according to the release.

Dancing Pony Boutique celebrates 20 years in New Braunfels

A downtown New Braunfels boutique is celebrating a big milestone in October with an anniversary celebration.

Some details: The Dancing Pony Boutique has seen a lot of change since opening at 249 W. San Antonio St. back in 2005. Owners Regina Daggett and Jan Manley said they both worked at the shop for several years prior to taking ownership of the business in 2014.

Since then, there’s been a lot of growth in the area, particularly downtown, Daggett said.

“It’s just grown so much, and there’s been a lot of boutiques opening around us,” she said. “But we have an awesome community and awesome customers.”

What’s special about it? Daggett said the boutique is unique because they offer a “huge” selection of shoes, apparel and jewelry, along with a plethora of home goods. The boutique also has a hidden area in the back of the store called the Pony Pub where football is on every Sunday.

There aren’t many places in San Antonio that offer sit-down Filipino dining and an Asian grocery market all-in-one.
