Montgomery County commissioners approve November election voting locations
During its Sept. 9 meeting, the Montgomery County Commissioners Court approved voting locations for the Nov. 4 election.
What this means: Registered voters in Montgomery County can utilize any of the 57 polling locations to cast their ballots from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 4, according to the agenda item.
Those who will hold elections in conjunction with the county will also use these locations.
CEDAT Center for the Development of Talent coming soon to Spring
CEDAT Center for the Development of Talent officials said the learning center is opening its first location in The Woodlands area in October.
The details: CEDAT Center for the Development of Talent offers full-day care and after-school science programs for kids taught by graduates from universities including Harvard, Yale and Oxford, among others.
Per the website. CEDAT Center for the Development of Talent is an international institution originally founded in Mexico in 2010. The institution provides comprehensive development for children and youth with high intellectual abilities for those aiming to reach above-average levels, according to the center.
Tomball ISD approves tax rate for FY 2025-26, matching last year’s rate
Tomball ISD approved a total tax rate of $1.0629 per $100 valuation for FY 2025-26 at its regular meeting Sept. 9.
Explained: The approved tax rate remains the same as last fiscal year, according to TISD officials. The tax rate also goes hand in hand with the balanced general fund budget the district approved in June.
Also of note: The district based its tax rate calculation on the expectation that voters will approve Senate Bill 4 in November and, as a result, raise the statewide homestead exemption from $100,000 to $140,000, giving larger tax breaks to certain property owners and businesses.
What’s next: TISD Chief Financial Officer Zack Boles said the district plans to send out tax statements by Oct. 1.
Leadership Montgomery County plans summit, honors for Sen. Brandon Creighton Sept. 19
Leadership Montgomery County will hold its fourth annual Montgomery County Leadership Summit at the new Kevin Brady Library and Community Center on Sept. 19, featuring a lineup of area experts and professionals to speak about topics like growth and service.
The details: According to a news release, the half-day event, which focuses on the LMC value "Lifetime Learning: There's Always Room to Grow," includes five speakers.
What else: The event concludes with a special awards luncheon featuring Sen. Brandon Creighton, who represents Texas Senate District 4. He will be honored as an LMC honorary alumnus, a recognition that has only been awarded by LMC six times in its 38 years of existence, according to a news release.
