Plano City Council approves $3.19M for arterial concrete repair at Park Boulevard

Plano officials approved $3.19 million for arterial concrete repairs along Park Boulevard at a meeting May 26.

In a nutshell: The Frisco-based ICOS Management LLC was awarded $3,193,250 for repairs from Preston Road to Independence Parkway, according to city documents.

The background: Other arterial concrete projects taking place in the city are along Independence Parkway, Legacy Drive, other sections of Park Boulevard and Parker Road.

Universal Kids Resort sets July 1 opening date

Universal Kids Resort will open in Frisco on July 1.

What you need to know: The theme park is a first-of-its-kind that is designed for kids. Guests can start planning their vacations with tickets sales and hotel bookings now available, according to a May 28 news release.

Tickets, packages and the first annual pass option for Universal Kids Resort are officially on sale.

Looking back: The theme park was announced in January 2023 and it was always geared toward young children and families. The project later broke ground that year and the hotel joined the Frisco tourism group in early 2026.

Quote of note: "When Universal opens, it's going to be something that's really unique about growing up in Frisco," Mayor Jeff Cheney said. "It's going to be kind of a big part of the Frisco DNA going forward."

2 Plano massage schools close due to falsified records

Harvard Massage Institute Inc and American Massage Academy Inc in Plano closed May 18.

In a nutshell: The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation issued an order to close various massage schools in the state, including two in Plano, after finding violations including but not limited to fraud, falsification of records or conduct that compromised the integrity of the licensure and examination processes, per its website.

What’s next: Impacted students can submit documentation to verify their hours or voluntarily surrender the hours to enroll in another approved school, according to the TDLR website.

Spicy Aroma offers Indian flavors, breakfast buffet in Denton

Indian restaurant Spicy Aroma opened at the Denton Plaza shopping center in early March.

The restaurant offers a variety of Indian dishes, including chicken korma, tikka masala and biryani fried rice, according to the menu. Spicy Aroma also has an unlimited breakfast buffet on Saturdays and Sundays.
