McKinney Community Development Corp. awards $10M to local projects
The McKinney Community Development Corporation awarded $10.6 million to five local projects in August, including funds for park enhancements and affordable housing renovations.
In a nutshell: The MCDC’s board of directors awarded the funds during an Aug. 28 meeting, according to a news release. Projects awarded funding include:
$233,137 to The Harbor at Adriatica Master Condominium Association for replacement of fire suppression systems at Adriatica Village’s public parking locations
$80,000 to McKinney Main Street for fabrication and installation of a 50-foot neon monument sign at US 75 and Virginia Parkway promoting McKinney’s Historic District
$8 million to the McKinney Parks and Recreation department for parks accessibility improvements, trail plan amendments and improvements at three parks
$305,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Collin County for repair and renovation of three affordable housing properties
$2 million to Entertainment Properties 360 for enhancements to a publicly accessible park in the West Grove retail development
Valvoline Instant Oil Change to relocate ahead of 380 bypass project in McKinney
🚘️ A Valvoline Instant Oil Change located at 8720 W. University Drive will relocate in December ahead of the 380 highway expansion project, a company spokesperson said. Valvoline doesn’t currently have a new address for the relocation, the spokesperson added.
The gist: Valvoline offers oil changes and other vehicle maintenance services, like battery and air filter replacements, according to the company’s website.
The context: The oil change shop is one of several businesses in the area identified as expected displacements due to the selected alignment for the US 380 bypass, according to the Texas Department of Transportation’s website.
🏡 Homebuilders working in the 2,000-acre Trinity Falls community in north McKinney debuted new model homes in September.
The gist: The new model homes kick off the opening of Trinity Falls’ fourth and sixth development phases for the community, according to a news release from Johnson Development. The opening includes new model homes from seven homebuilders.
The context: Trinity Falls spans 2,000 acres and will include more than 5,200 homes when completed. Development will occur in nine phases, according to the development’s website. Residents will have access to multiple community amenities including a dog park, fitness center and hike and bike trails.
