Ongoing
Hickory Creek Road
The road is closed from Riverpass Drive to FM 1830 for the third phase of the Hickory Creek Road Phase 3. The project will install a bridge over railroad tracks and realign the road.
The road closed in early March and is scheduled to reopen in late December.

I-35E and Mayhill Road

Crews started work on I-35E from Loop 288 to Pockrus Page Road in January. Work includes rebuilding the interchange at Mayhill Road and I-35E. Crews are currently installing drainage, and traffic will be redirected to a detour route on the frontage road while drainage is installed.

With Friday the 13th just around the corner, several Denton tattoo and piercing shops are offering discounts on tattoos and piercings. Check out these five Denton tattoo shops offering Friday the 13th specials.

Inkstop Tattoos and Piercings
The tattoo and piercing shop on West McKinney Street is offering $13 flash with a $7 tip on March 13, and offering 32 more pages of flash on Saturday March 14 and Sunday March 15 for $20-$40. The shop is also offering select piercings for $40.

HereAfter Tattoos and Oddities

The shop recently relocated to a new location on the square, and will offer between 10-13 pages of flash for $50-$150. Owner Bethany Brockett said flash designs include both Friday the 13th-themed tattoos, as well as nature and nerd culture-themed designs. HereAfter also offers antiques and unique items for sale.

Children’s Health StarCenter Multisport-Northlake to celebrate grand opening with free activities

The $45 million Children’s Health StarCenter Multisport-Northlake will open at the end of March.

What’s happening? The facility and the town each posted on social media about the upcoming grand opening event, which will be held from 4-9 p.m.

There will be public skating, an open gym for basketball and volleyball, hockey showcases for the Victory Green Girls Hockey League and a high school hockey game between Keller High School and Northwest High School.

In addition, Dallas Pulse volleyball players and former Dallas Stars players will be on site to sign autographs.

According to previous reporting, the 225,000-square-foot indoor facility will have two National Hockey League regulation sheets of ice and eight basketball courts that can be converted into 16 volleyball courts.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held April 15, 2024, according to previous reporting.
