Frisco ISD begins planning for potential 2027 bond

Frisco ISD has begun exploring a potential bond package that could go before voters in May 2027.

What to know: A district bond planning committee consisting of approximately 100 stakeholders—including parents, students, residents, businesses, community leaders, chamber members and board-appointed representatives—will be formed in the coming weeks.

FISD’s bond planning committee will meet seven times through January 2027. Its work will culminate in a recommendation to the FISD Board.

The background: FISD voters last approved a $691 million bond package in 2018.

Reds on Main reopens Frisco location after funding challenges

Red's on Main has reopened its Frisco location just over a month after the restaurant closed.

What to know: The restaurant announced its temporary closure July 30 as it sought additional funding amid a summer of declining business.

With its Sept. 9 reopening, the business announced that the original menu items will remain while new items will also be added.

Hudson House’s Southlake restaurant plans to welcome its first customers in mid-September.

The menu includes a selection of American fare, a raw bar and sushi. Some of the restaurant’s most popular dishes include Hudson’s Avocado Dip, which is made with whipped avocado, green onion, herbs and ranch chips, and a cheeseburger with thin patties, American cheese, pickles and Hudson’s house sauce.

Oysters are flown in from the East Coast daily, according to a news release. Diners can also order the chain’s “World’s Coldest Martini,” which is made with Grey Goose vodka chilled to 10 degrees Fahrenheit.

Q&A: Meet the 4 candidates running for Texas comptroller

This November, four candidates are running to lead the Texas Comptroller's Office and serve as the state's chief financial officer.

The overview: Libertarian V. Alonzo Echavarria-Garza, Democrat Sarah Eckhardt, Green Party candidate Shehla Faizi and Republican Don Huffines are running for comptroller. Huffines, whom Gov. Greg Abbott appointed to the office in July, is considered the incumbent in this race.

How it works: The comptroller oversees government spending and administers the state's $1 billion education savings account program, which launched ahead of the 2026-27 school year.

Looking ahead: Early voting runs from Oct. 19-30 in the midterm election, and Election Day is Nov. 3.
