New Braunfels residents and community members will have the opportunity to give input on the future of the Dittlinger Mill site, formerly known as the ADM Mill.

What you need to know: Oxbow Development Group, a San Antonio-based real estate development company, will hold a public meeting on Aug. 25 at 5:30 p.m. in the New Braunfels Civic & Convention Center’s Garden Room to gather community input on the future of the Dittlinger Mill/ADM Mill site. Oxbow Development Group developed San Antonio’s Pearl district, Pullman Market, Hotel Emma and Best Quality Daughter, according to the group’s portfolio.

Attendees will participate in a series of interactive exercises designed to gather feedback on potential uses for the site, desired public spaces and design priorities. The input collected from this meeting will help guide ongoing planning and ensure the project reflects community values and aspirations, according to a news release.

A new dessert trailer serving Texas-sized stuffed cookies and other sweet treats will be opening soon in New Braunfels.

What you need to know: Sugar and Spice Desserts, owned by New Braunfels resident Kristall Oswald, is going mobile this fall. After teaching for five years, Oswald said said decided to pursue her passion for baking full-time.

“What started as a small home bakery has grown into something much bigger than I ever imagined,” Oswald said. “I'm so grateful for the opportunity to continue serving our community in a new way.”

Sugar and Spice Desserts will offer Texas-sized stuffed cookies, sugar cookies, cake sandwiches, gourmet cupcakes, fresh macarons and more.

The dessert trailer's home base will be in New Braunfels. Oswald said she plans to travel throughout surrounding areas for community events, festivals, pop-up markets, weddings and corporate events.

The Edwards Aquifer Authority, or EAA, declared Stage 2 Critical Period Management for Edwards withdrawal permit holders in the San Antonio Pool of the EAA’s jurisdiction on Aug. 6 due to declining water levels in the aquifer, according to an EAA news release.

This jurisdiction includes Medina, Bexar, and parts of Guadalupe, Comal, Hays, Atascosa and Caldwell counties, the release states.

How it happened: On April 6, the 10-day average at the J-17 index well was 649.8 feet above mean sea level, which falls within the Stage 2 threshold of the EAA Critical Period Management Plan. The J-17 index well is a monitoring well where the EAA measures groundwater levels in the San Antonio Pool of the Edwards Aquifer. The 10-day average at the Comal Springs is 219 cubic feet per second, or cfs, and the San Marcos Springs is 128 cfs, according to the release.

St. David’s HealthCare announced it acquired 14 Texas MedClinic Urgent Care centers in August.

Latest update: The urgent care centers will be rebranded as St. David’s CareNow Urgent Care clinics, per an Aug. 3 news release.

This brings the number of urgent care facilities under the St. David’s system to 39 in Central Texas alone, according to the company.
