4 Italian restaurants now open, coming soon

Several Italian restaurants have opened or are slated to open in Frisco. 

What you need to know: Three restaurants opened late last year and early this year with another slated to open soon. 

Slice House by Tony Gemignani is the most recent to open. The fast-casual pizza franchise offers pizzas sold by the slice or whole. Beyond pizzas, Slice House offers pasta dishes, including a gemelli pasta with vodka tomato cream sauce, salads and various Italian desserts, such as spumoni, cannoli and gelato.

Coming soon in Frisco is MoMo’s Pasta. The restaurant will bring Italian cuisine to Stonebriar Commons. The Dallas eatery offers various Italian dishes, including pasta, pizza, risotto and other lunch and dinner plates. MoMo’s Pasta has brunch, lunch and dinner menus. Menu items include parmigiana di melanzane, tortelli di formaggio and Margherita pizza.

Black Rock Coffee eyes second Frisco location

Black Rock Coffee is planning to open a second location in Frisco, according to a permit filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

On the menu: In addition to coffee and tea, Black Rock Coffee also sells a signature energy drink called Fuel.

Two candidates are on the Democratic ballot for Texas House District 61 for the March 3 primary election.

The details: Jackie Bescherer and Brittany Black are both running to represent District 61 in the Texas House. The winner will appear again on the November ballot against the winner of the Republican primary, which features incumbent Keresa Richardson and candidate Frederick Frazier. Cities the district represents include Plano, McKinney, Frisco and Celina.

What you need to know: Early voting for the March 3 primary runs from Feb. 17-27. Registered voters may cast ballots in either Texas’ Republican or Democratic primary, but not both. Third-party candidates will appear on the November ballot.

Q&A: Meet the Republican primary candidates for US House District 3

Mark Newgent is challenging incumbent Keith Self in the Republican primary to compete in November for the U.S. House District 3 seat.

What voters should know: The winner in March will face Democratic candidate Evan Hunt in November. Candidates were asked to keep responses under 50 words, answer the questions provided and avoid attacking opponents. The questions include:

  • Why are you running for this position?
  • What are the biggest challenges facing the cities in your district?
