Bryan City Council will consider maintaining the city’s property tax rate for fiscal year 2026-27 and approving budgets for several city agencies during its Aug. 11 meeting.

What you need to know: The city's property tax rate has been in place since 2022. If approved, the tax rate would be voted on during the September council meeting for final adoption.

What else: Council members are also set to approve budgets for the Brazos Valley Solid Waste Management Agency for trash collection and landfill services.

According to agenda material, the proposed operating expenses for the Brazos Valley Solid Waste Management Agency at $10.8 million would be an increase from last year.

Next, the city may increase its contribution to the Brazos County Health District budget by 21%. This would be the first time the city’s contribution to the Health District’s budget has increased since 2021, according to agenda documents.

Bryan-College Station will start seeing a series of multiple-step closures on “Big 6” highway construction during the week of Aug. 10.

• Aug. 10: Full closure of the southbound mainlane from Old Reliance Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Street to Briarcrest Drive, 7:30 p.m.-6:30 a.m.
• Aug. 11-12: Full closure of the northbound mainlanes from Southwest Parkway to Briarcrest Drive, 7:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.
• Aug. 13: Full closure of the Southbound mainlanes from Briarcrest Drive to Southwest Parkway, 7:30 p.m.-6:30 a.m.
• Aug 14-16: Full closure of the northbound Texas Avenue exit ramp, 7:30 p.m.-6:30 a.m.

Unreined Whiskey, dubbed the official whiskey of Texas A&M Athletics, celebrated the grand opening of its new visitor center and rickhouse Aug. 8 at WildHorse Ranch in College Station.

What’s happening: Founded by a group of Aggies and longtime whiskey-makers, the company ages and blends whiskey in Texas and recently opened its four-story, 30,000-square-foot facility to the public.

What Unreined offers: Visitors can take guided tours, participate in tastings and enjoy cocktails and food at WildHorse Ranch. The tour lasts about an hour and includes a look at the ranch and rickhouse followed by a guided whiskey tasting.

Unreined also debuted its Unreined Wheated Bourbon alongside the opening.

Before you go: The brand was named the official whiskey of Texas A&M Athletics in November 2025 and is available at Texas A&M events where spirits are served.

A two-story venue catering to sporting events and arcade machines has opened in Historic Downtown Bryan. Final Score Sports Bar & Arcade said it hopes to be a hub for sports fans in Bryan.

The overview: Both floors focus on separate interests, with sports and pool on the first floor and arcade games on the second. Along with sports and an arcade, Final Score will also hold events, watch parties and 18+ hours.

Before you go: Owner Dustin Batson also told Community Impact that Final Score will be having a few days of soft openings “to get used to the area and customers.” However, the official opening is set to take place in early September. Along with the arcade will be 11 big-screen televisions, darts and foosball to accommodate guests with all different tastes and likes.
