New data shows Leander ISD outperformed state in some STAAR tests

Leander ISD families can now access their third through eight grade student's State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, or STAAR, scores, as well as high school STAAR end-of-course exam scores.

Breaking it down: The TEA uses a four-tiered grading system to score STAAR test performance and determine if students need academic intervention in order to succeed in the next grade. "Approaches grade level" is considered a passing score but could require some intervention. Data for LISD shows that the district's approaches grade level scores outperformed the state in every subject in both 2025 and 2026. Year-over-year, LISD's approaches grade level scores were the same or higher in every subject with the exception of third, sixth, seventh and eight grade math; third, fourth and sixth grade reading; and eighth grade social studies.

Something to note: Individual STAAR score reports are available to families through their school district's portal or a TEA website using the unique access code provided by their student's school.

Stay tuned: TEA will release science STAAR scores July 31.

Full Life Fellowship church to debut in Cedar Park

Full Life Fellowship, a new nondenominational church in Cedar Park, will hold its first services July 26, Pastor Craig Paczkowski said.

The details: The church will hold Sunday services at 10 a.m. at Shine on Performing Arts.

“Sunday morning services will be full of life, learning, and worship that will bring something special and ‘other worldly’ into clearer view,” Paczkowski said in an email.

Full Life Fellowship will begin by celebrating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States with a four-week series of sermons “on the connection between the kingdom of God, the founding of our nation, and the liberty we all experience as a result,” Paczkowski said.

Round Rock ISD STAAR end-of-course exams show growth across most subjects

Students in Round Rock ISD saw significant improvement on end-of-course exams administered for Algebra, English, Biology and U.S. History earlier this spring.

Results were released by the Texas Education Agency on June 10. Results show growth statewide in the number of students meeting grade level expectations across content areas.

The local impact: Students saw year-to-year improvement in scores for four of five exams administered.

What they're saying: "Our mentality is we want every student to grow," said Natalie Nichols, RRISD's chief of schools and innovation. "It does not matter if you're a 'did not meet,' 'approaches,' 'meets' or 'masters.' Every student deserves to grow. That's the promise we make to our community."
