Fort Worth Interim Fire Chief Raymond Hill will retire Sept. 1.

The city announced that Hill will retire after more than three decades working for the fire department, according to a news release. 

The details: Hill joined the department as a firefighter in December 1994 and was named the assistant chief in 2018. He was appointed as interim fire chief at the Fort Worth City Council meeting Oct. 28, 2025. He replaced Jim Davis, who was placed on administrative leave, according to previous reporting. 

Hill oversaw part of the transition in emergency medical services from MedStar to the Fort Worth Fire Department. The transition occurred July 1, 2025, adding emergency medical technicians, paramedics and telecommunicators to the department.

What else? The city will begin a national search for Fort Worth's next fire chief in the coming weeks, according to the release.

The town of Trophy Club announced changes to traffic patterns near Byron Nelson High School, Medlin Middle School and Samuel Beck Elementary ahead of the 2026-27 school year.

Construction around the Northwest ISD schools for a roundabout on Bobcat Boulevard will change the current pedestrian routes near the schools. The first day of school for NISD students and staff is Aug. 12.

The details: The $3.8 million project includes widening the roadway. The sidewalk on Bobcat Boulevard, between Roseville Drive and Byron Nelson High School Driveway No. 4, is temporarily closed. While the project is not in Roanoke, it directly affects Roanoke residents and students who attend these schools, said Sandra Pettigrew, Roanoke's public engagement manager.

What’s happening: Site preparation, utility locating, pavement removal, excavation, storm drain removal and utility work have all been completed, according to an Aug. 5 update on the town’s website.

As construction progresses, the town will continue to evaluate traffic patterns and pedestrian routes to determine if adjustments to crossing guard locations or staffing are necessary.

The Dallas Fort Worth International Airport board of directors approved the purchase of the Hyatt Regency DFW Hotel during the Aug. 6 meeting.

The transaction, approved by the Public Facility Improvement Corp. on July 29, is for an amount not to exceed $193.65 million from Woodlake HRDFW Hotel Owners, LLC for the property at 2334 N. International Parkway.

The details: The Public Facility Improvement Corp., or PFIC, will assume the lease between the hotel and the DFW Airport Board. The final approval will need to be approved by the owner cities, Fort Worth and Dallas, according to documents.

The 40-year lease on the facility had an initial term that started Oct. 23, 1986, with two 20-year extensions and a 19-year extension that follows.

Zooming in: This would be the fourth hotel operated by the PFIC at DFW Airport. According to documents, the group also operates and manages The Grand Hyatt Hotel, the Hyatt Place Hotel and the Hyatt House Hotel, which is scheduled to open in 2027.

A tech company is expanding its Richardson facility and the Einstein Bros. Bagels Terminal A location at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is set to undergo renovations. 1. Celestica expansion in Richardson: The tech company Celestica is expanding its Richardson facility with a new 225,000-square-foot building, according to TDLR documents. An estimated 2,300 jobs will be created in the process, according to previous Community Impact reporting.

• Estimated timeline: Sept. 3, 2026-March 15, 2027

• Estimated cost: $70 million

2. New Advantage Storage in Frisco: The self-storage company Advantage Storage is opening a new location along Hollyhock Road. The location will come with two two-story buildings and two single-story buildings, per the TDLR filing.

• Estimated timeline: Oct. 1, 2026-Sept. 30, 2029

• Estimated cost: $7.7 million
