Clear Creek ISD’s board of trustees on Aug. 24 will consider the district’s $432 million budget for fiscal year 2026-27, and discuss the district’s tax rate of $0.969 per $100 valuation of a home, which is unchanged from the previous year’s tax rate.

The details: The school district is projecting a $22.8 million shortfall for the FY 2026-27, driven by declines in state and local funding due to decreased enrollment, district officials said.

What it means: At an Aug. 17 meeting, staff and the board of trustees discussed covering the gap with the district's $39 million capital contingency fund, according to previous reporting by Community Impact. 

What's next: The board will formally adopt the tax rate at its Sept. 28 meeting, according to previous reporting.

Boardwalk Ice House opened its doors in mid-July, staff said.

On the menu: The restaurant offers seafood, such as fried catfish tacos, crawfish roll, gulf po' boy, as well as Cajun foods, such as Cajun wings, loaded Cajun fries and a Cajun bowl. For desserts, the restaurant offers beignets with Vietnamese coffee sauce and fries Oreos.

St. Luke’s Health will add its parent company to its name in October as it expands its partnership with Baylor School of Medicine, officials announced in an Aug. 17 news release.

Read all about it: The name addition aims to unite and emphasize the shared values between St. Luke’s Health and CommonSpirit Health, a faith-based healthcare provider that serves as a parent company for over 2,300 care sites in the nation, according to the release. 

The name change also aims to bridge the local and national networks.

Zooming out: Over the past year, Baylor School of Medicine and St. Luke’s have also expanded their partnership to invite more Baylor specialists to join St. Luke’s.
