$14M renovation at Grapevine High School to start this summer

Grapevine High School will be undergoing construction work for the next two summers.

During the Feb. 23 Grapevine-Colleyville ISD board of trustees meeting, a guaranteed maximum price contract worth nearly $14.43 million was awarded to Lee Lewis Construction.

Chief Operations Officer Paula Barbaroux said there were proposals from 53 subcontractors to cover 26 different areas for the renovations from the 2024 bond program.

The outlook: Barbaroux said the work will be done when school is not in session, during this summer and next summer, with a substantial completion date of Aug. 1, 2027. The 17-month timetable is due to roofing work that needs to be completed.

She said the contract amount came in under budget by about $2.2 million. Barbaroux added a previously-awarded contract of $239,058 for electrical work, which is included in the $14.4 million cost.

The specifics: The work at Grapevine High School is part of Proposition A, approved by 61.3% of voters during the May 2024 election. It was part of a $150 million bond package, according to the school website.
