Legacy Drive widening: Legacy Drive is set to be widened and reconstructed from Lebanon Road to Stonebrook Parkway and Stonebrook Parkway to 4th Army Drive.

Panther Creek Parkway widening: Panther Creek Parkway is set to be widened from a four-lane roadway to a six-lane roadway from Preston Road to Coit Road.

Ongoing projects

Ohio Drive roundabout addition: A new roundabout is being added to the Ohio Drive and Gaylord Parkway intersection.

Hillcrest Road construction: Hillcrest Road will be constructed into a four-lane divided roadway from Panther Creek Parkway to PGA Parkway.

Mike’s Chicken is slated to open a location in Frisco, a company representative said.

On the menu: The menu features a variety of fried chicken options including tenders, wings, dark meat and white meat. Additional menu items include sandwiches, salads, baked beans, french fries and coleslaw. Homemade sauces options include white cream gravy, Mike’s buffalo, ranch and honey mustard.

Medical City facilities across Dallas-Fort Worth will host blood drives in February and March to continue to bring aid to the region, according to a news release.

The details: Severe winter weather at the end of January has created a significant need for blood donations in North Texas after forcing many donor centers and blood drives to close for several days, according to previous reporting.

The winter months are already a slow time for blood donor turnout, which is why Medical City officials are asking for eligible donors to consider donating at one of these drives.

Two Republican candidates are running to lead the Texas Department of Agriculture in the upcoming March 3 primary election.

The overview: Nate Sheets is challenging incumbent Sid Miller, who is seeking a fourth term as Texas agriculture commissioner. The winning Republican candidate will face Democrat Clayton Tucker in November, and the winner of that election will be sworn in for a four-year term in January 2027.

About the agency: The Texas Department of Agriculture's duties include administering federal nutrition programs and grants; facilitating trade of agricultural products; protecting crops from pests and diseases; providing financial assistance to farmers and rural communities; and conducting consumer protection programs, according to the agency's website.

Two Democratic candidates are running to lead the Texas General Land Office in the upcoming March 3 primary election.

The big picture: Benjamin Flores and Jose Loya are vying for the Democratic nomination for Texas land commissioner. The winning Democratic candidate will face Republican incumbent Dawn Buckingham in November, and the winner of that election will begin serving as land commissioner in January 2027.

The context: The General Land Office manages 13 million acres of state lands, with duties such as allocating disaster recovery funds, leasing state lands to generate revenue for the state's Permanent School Fund, preserving state landmarks such as the Alamo and overseeing several veterans programs.
