Keller officials approve development changes for Frost Bank at The Shops at Keller Marketplace

Keller City Council approved a two-year Specific Use Permit, or SUP, extension and a request for updated drive-thru lanes for The Shops at Keller Marketplace.

The extension was approved 6-1, with Place 4 Council Member Tag Green voting against the extension at a regular meeting Jan. 6.

In a nutshell: A development lot along Keller Parkway is proposed to become the new building for Frost Bank in Keller, according to city documents.

The 7,000-square-foot bank will have four stacking spaces per drive-thru lane, which was approved unanimously by council.

What they're saying: “I’m not able to be supportive of extending an SUP that I don’t think follows the spirit of what we approved the first time,” Green said.

Place 6 Council Member Karen Brennan said the change was not significant enough for her to oppose the plan.

“We’ve gone from a bank and three restaurants to a bank and two restaurants. I do not see that as a gross change in usage,” she said.

Also on the agenda: Atrius Wayfinder, previously LocusLabs, was given a $1.8 million contract to upgrade the DFW Airport mobile app.

The Oakland, California-based company will add enhanced indoor navigation and wayfinding for users. It will also provide the ability to generate heat maps, dwell-time analysis for future planning by concessions and customer experience in the airport, according to board documents.
