From water project updates to city council stipend increases, here is the latest government news in Boerne and Fair Oaks Ranch.

Boerne City Council looks at city lake water treatment plant expansion: The water treatment plant near Boerne City Lake is set for an expansion, increasing water production and quality for city water users. Boerne City Council on Nov. 18 reviewed the pilot study for a new treatment plant.

Utilities Director Michael Mann said the plant expansion would help meet regulatory requirements from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, targeting chemicals such as Geosmin, an organic compound that gives water an earthy taste and smell.

Fair Oaks Ranch amends agreement for elevated storage tank engineering: Fair Oaks Ranch is one step closer to the construction of an elevated water storage tank, which will be constructed on the corner of Ammann Road in Kendall County. City Council on Nov. 20 approved a resolution authorizing the execution of an amendment to the Professional Services Agreement with Kimley-Horn and Associates Inc. for engineering services.  

A luxury car manufacturer is expanding its presence in North America, adding a new showroom near Boerne and Fair Oaks Ranch.

What’s happening? Bentley Motors opened its newest showroom in early November at 27605 I-10 near Boerne, dealership staff told Community Impact.

It’s situated beside the Lamborghini San Antonio dealership and will be operated by the same ownership and staff.

Not only is there a showroom for customers to view vehicles, but there’s also a parts and service department for maintenance and more, according to the dealer’s website.

Vehicles offered by the UK-based automaker include luxury SUVs, saloons and convertibles.

A new 46,000-square-foot indoor pickleball center is coming soon to Live Oak.

The details: The center—named The Picklr—is planned to open in early January at 7517 Loop 1604, Ste. 35, franchise owner James Speer told Community Impact.

“If everything goes right with construction, we’re hoping for that time frame,” Speer said.

The Picklr has 17 other locations scattered throughout Texas, according to its website.

Speer said the Live Oak location will have:

• 13 pickleball courts
• A pro shop
• A private event area
• League play
• Tournaments and drop-in play
• Court reservations
• Locker rooms and showers
