Sprouts Farmers Market officials will host a grand opening celebration for the company's new grocery store in Kingwood in mid-April.

According to information on the store's website, the grand opening celebration will span three days—April 17-19—and feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony, giveaways and activities. 

Some context: The Kingwood location was first announced in March 2025 and was previously expected to open in early 2026 before being pushed to this spring.

What they offer: As previously reported by Community Impact, Sprouts offers fresh, natural and organic food with products that cater to a range of dietary needs, including gluten-free, plant-based and non-GMO products.

Based in Phoenix, the company employs approximately 35,000 team members and operates more than 450 stores in 24 states nationwide, according to information on the Sprouts website.

Strawbridge United Methodist Church in Kingwood is undergoing a project to add and enhance space for the church's youth and adult ministries, Director of Communications Brian Fisher confirmed via email March 9.

The timeline: Church officials broke ground on the project in August and construction is expected to wrap up this summer.

What to expect: Upon completion, Fisher said the expansion project will add a new 10,000-square-foot, two-story building featuring:

• Five new youth classrooms
• A youth gathering space
• Seven new adult discipleship classrooms
• Additional storage space for all church ministries

• Children's ministry
• Bright Beginnings Learning Center, a weekday pre-school
• Various community outreach programs

Cancer Clinician and Translational Scientist Dr. Daniela Matei will become the next director of the Houston Methodist Dr. Mary and Ron Neal Cancer Center following a national search, Houston Methodist officials announced in a Feb. 27 news release.

The details: Currently chief of the Division of Reproductive Science in Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Matei is an expert in ovarian cancer treatment and research, per the release.

What they’re saying: Chang said Matei’s vision will “enhance the momentum of our research enterprise and support our shared goal of turning scientific innovation into real-world impact for patients.”

What’s next? Matei will begin her role as director in April, per the release.
