Keller officials to enforce stricter penalties for water conservation in the city

Keller City Council approved new enforcement rules for its water conservation laws that will lead to stricter consequences for residents wasting water.

The new enforcement changes passed unanimously at the regular City Council meeting Jan. 6.

The gist: The city will now be able to add fines or physically lock sprinkler systems if residents break water conservation rules or cause excessive flooding or damage, according to city documents.

The new rules also mean residents will see increasing administrative fees applied to their monthly billing cycle when violating water conservation rules. Before the new regulations, Keller residents typically received a citation below $500 for each day of violation.

Zooming in: The city of Fort Worth modified its code to a progressive enforcement process Nov. 11, Smith said. The new process uses Advanced Metering Infrastructure, or AMI, data to assess violations and assess administrative fees.

Combined bar, coffee shop concept to open on Oak Street in Roanoke

A combination coffee house and speakeasy will be opening on Oak Street in Roanoke in the former Roanoke Trading Company location.

In a nutshell: Just Another Bar, or JAB, and Just Another Coffee Shop, or JACS, already filed permits to revamp the space into two distinct areas: an open and bright coffee shop in the front of the building and a darker, more sophisticated bar and restaurant, according to a facade grant filed with the city of Roanoke.

The concept is based on Just Another Bar, or JAB, in Helsinki, Finland. The Roanoke version will have coffee, pastries and ice cream within JACS, and JAB will offer French and other European cuisines, beer, curated cocktails and wines, the permit states.

Wilkinson’s Fine Goods to expand in late 2026: ‘The vision outgrew the walls’

Wilkinson’s Fine Goods will expand its store in 2026 to accommodate the store’s brands and goods and to give customers a more immersive experience, owner Clint Wilkinson said.

“We’re taking our time to do [the expansion] right—staying thoughtful about the details, the materials, and the overall feel,” he told Community Impact. “It’s important to us that when the doors fully open, it feels like a natural evolution of Wilkinson’s, not a departure from it.

What’s happening? Wilkinson said the store will remain in the same location and that the expansion will show that Wilkinson’s Fine Goods is more than a retail store.

The store is known for its western wear, such as clothes and boots for men and women, and its accessories, including jewelry, hats, leather goods and belt buckles.

The backstory: Wilkinson’s Fine Goods was founded in 1957 by Wilkinson’s grandfather, Weldon Burgoon, who was from Denton. The store originally was named Weldon’s Saddle Shop & Western Wear, according to the company website.
