Asian-barbecue food truck Si Baby-Q relocates to far Northwest Austin

Asian-barbecue fusion food truck Si Baby-Q relocated to Pink Flamingo Food Court in July.

The details: The menu features barbecue dishes with an Asian twist, such as brisket and ribs with an Indonesian pepper and spice rub.

Sides include smoked kimchi; queso noodles made with long peppers from India; street corn; roti, or an Indian bread; and a banana pudding dessert.

The food truck also sells smoked meats by the pound and features weekend specials such as smashburgers. 

Looking back: The food truck, which opened in 2024, was previously located at Zoe Tong and Fierce Whiskers Distillery.

Latin-Asian food truck Mostacho Arroz Chino opens in far Northwest Austin

Latin-Asian fusion food truck Mostacho Arroz Chino opened at Pink Flamingo Food Court in June. 

The details: The food truck specializes in Venezuelan-style Chinese fried rice made with fillings such as shrimp, chicken or pork, plus soy sauce, green onions and bean sprouts. 

Also on the menu are savory spring rolls made with Venezuelan cheese, cabbage and ham, or a sweet filling, as well as packaged Venezuelan candy bars such as Cocosette, Cri Cri and Samba.

Austin Museum Day highlights local resources across over 35 museums

The Austin Museum Partnership is celebrating the 28th annual Austin Museum Day where community members can celebrate art, heritage, music, nature, science and more at over 35 participating museums.

What to know: All day Sept. 21, museums across the city will open their doors and offer specialized activities and guided exhibit tours.

The special day represents a longstanding partnership between the city’s cultural centers, where the public can reignite their connection with the resources available to them at their local museums.

Inaugural State of Healthcare Workforce Forum highlights local concerns around shortage, talent pools

Higher education costs, a booming population and aging workforce are all challenges identified by health care executives at the state and local level in a first-time health care forum held at Austin PBS in August.

The setup: Hosted by Workforce Solutions Capital Area, Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area and the Central Texas Healthcare Partnership, with support from the St. David's Foundation, the State of Healthcare Workforce Forum brought experts from the state and regional level to discuss challenges impacting the health care industry and its workforce Aug. 26.
