Frisco swears in new mayor

Frisco’s new Mayor Mark Hill was sworn into office July 7.

What you need to know: Hill takes over for Jeff Cheney, who termed out of the position after serving three terms as mayor and three terms as a council member before that.

Quote of note: “This has been an incredible journey,” Cheney said. “This has been the highlight of my professional career. It's completely changed the life of my family. To live in a community you helped build and grow is a very special feeling.”

Looking ahead: Hill will serve a three-year term as mayor. Hill is a business attorney, former Frisco ISD board member and president, and served on the Frisco Economic Development Corp.’s board of directors.

“I’m going to dream big in this role and I ask all of my council members to join me in that,” Hill said after being sworn into office. “We are a community that has a lot ahead of us. I’m going to ask each of y'all to push me, to push our council members.“
