College Station ISD projects declining enrollment as birth rate dips

College Station ISD is projecting fewer students enrolled in the 2026-27 school year and beyond as the number of students graduating each year is expected to outpace local population growth.

At a glance: As of the Feb. 17 budget workshop, CSISD is projecting an increase in property tax revenue in FY 2026-27 but less funding from the state.

Also of note: To offset some of the decrease in enrollment CSISD is seeing, the district launched Choose CSISD—an out-of-district transfer program—in January.

In other news: The board of trustees also heard presentations on staffing requests for FY 2026-27 during the Feb. 17 workshop meeting, including adding:

  • An athletic trainer at A&M Consolidated High School and College Station High School
  • A full-time assistant choir director at the two high schools

Learn more: As the district continues its 2026-27 budget planning, the Advisory Budget Committee is expected to present the committee’s goals at the March board meeting.

On The Business Beat
Wright Naeger Dentistry relocating in College Station

Wright Naeger Dentistry is relocating in April to a new office just a couple of blocks away from its current location, an employee with the business told Community Impact on Feb. 13.

The gist: In a video posted in late 2025, officials with the business said they are relocating to a bigger space to help serve the community better. Currently housed at 4528 Mills Park Circle, College Station, its new location is less than a mile away.
Andrew Naeger, in the video, said the practice has grown, which has led them to need more space.

Quote of note: "It became obvious to us that the space was limiting our ability to take care of people in the way we always have," Naeger said in the video.

Also of note: Wright Naeger, according to its website, offers services such as:

  • Crowns
  • Dental implants
  • Veneers
  • Gum treatment
  • Cleanings

It has served the area for 50 years, according to its website.
  • 1461 Green Prairie Road, College Station
