Sovian brings fine European dining to Georgetown

Head Chef Vira Chudasma opened Sovian Restaurant and Cocktail Lounge after noticing a need for fine dining options in Georgetown.

Since its grand opening in April, the upscale European-style steakhouse has brought the tastes of southern France and Italy to the local community.

"Texas has an established love relationship with steaks, so you’ll find steakhouses in almost every market, but I wanted to bring something completely different," Chudasma said. "The fine dining scene in Georgetown has historically been thin.”

On the menu: Sovian’s menu, curated and designed by Chudasma, sports steak and seafood options, including:

  • Braised wagyu boeuf bourguignon, which is beef slow cooked in red wine from Burgundy

  • Coq au vin, a red wine braised half chicken

  • Premium steaks, including a 30-day dry-aged ribeye, and a 34-ounce bone-in cote de boeuf

  • Grilled Spanish octopus

Chudasma also created a signature side dish of roasted cauliflower and romanesco, served with a house-made salsa matcha, and homage to her growing up vegetarian and pescatarian.

Music, auctions to support medically fragile children at COTA gala

Music, auctions and a mission to support medically fragile children will come together when Abbey Lights Up COTA returns for its eighth year.

What’s happening: The fundraising gala will feature auctions, drinks, food, music, raffles and more.

“The Daytripper” creator and host Chet Garner will serve as emcee.

Where funds go: Proceeds will support the Abigail E. Keller Foundation’s financial assistance, hospice care baskets, birthday celebrations and more.

Funds will also advance plans for Abbey House—a proposed pediatric respite and hospice facility in Central Texas.

Why it matters: Abbey House would provide temporary overnight care outside a hospital, giving caregivers time to rest or tend to other family needs.

What they’re saying: “The vision for Abbey House is rooted in the belief that no family should have to face those challenges alone,” foundation President and CEO Melissa Keller said.
