Plano ISD rolls out applications for new virtual learning option

Applications for Plano ISD’s new Virtual Academy Program are now open.

The district’s board of trustees received an update on the program from PISD Director of Expanded Learning Pathways Stacy Singleton during an April 7 meeting.

The gist: The program will introduce a fully virtual and hybrid learning option for Plano ISD students starting next school year, according to the presentation. Students enrolled in the hybrid model will take both in-person and online courses, but no course will be a combination of in-person and virtual, Singleton said.

The virtual courses will be “fully aligned” with state standards, Singleton said.

Phenix Salon Suites to offer beauty, lifestyle services in Richardson

Phenix Salon Suites is set to open a new location in Richardson in July, owner Malak Stewart said in an email.

Phenix provides individual salon suites for health and wellness, beauty and lifestyle professionals, including hair stylists, nail technicians, makeup artists, chiropractors and personal trainers. Stewart said Phenix will begin licensing suites in May and will open to the public in July.

Countywide career fair slated for April 16 at Collin College’s Frisco Campus

Collin College is set to host a countywide job fair with nearly 100 employers in attendance, according to a news release.

The gist: The school is hosting its annual job fair from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. April 16. The event will take place at the Collin College Frisco Campus, located at 9700 Wade Blvd.

Diving in deeper: The free event will include hiring managers from nearly 100 employers throughout Collin County and beyond to discuss full-time and part-time job openings, per the release. Employers present will represent a variety of industries, including finance, engineering, public safety, health care and more.
