Round Rock outlet mall to get refresh

The Round Rock Premium Outlets are about to get a fresh new look. 

What you need to know: Simon Malls, the real estate trust that owns the Round Rock outlet mall, announced in March that the property is undergoing a refresh that started in February. 

The details: In addition to a new coat of paint in linen-toned neutrals, according to a March 4 news release, the center will get updates including: 

  • New interior and exterior wayfinding
  • Upgrades to some common areas
  • Restroom renovations
  • Exterior landscaping enhancements
  • A revamped entryway

Meridian World School to hold job fair April 1

Meridian World School will hold a miniature job fair April 1, hiring for a variety of positions within the charter school.

What you need to know: During a job fair to be held 4:30-6 p.m. on the charter school's campus at 2555 N. I-35, Round Rock, participants can tour the campus and learn more about the charter's International Baccalaureate program.

Upcoming projects

West Rundberg Lane Extension
Project: The project extends West Rundberg Lane in Austin from Burnet Road to Metric Boulevard, including an expansion of the roadway from two lanes to four lanes with a raised median, an 8-foot shared-use path on both sides, and storm sewer, water and wastewater improvements.
Update: The project is currently in the design phase.

  • Timeline: TBD
  • Cost: $10 million
  • Funding source: Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, city of Austin bond

Ongoing projects

Bebee Road
Project: The west portion of the project realigns sharp curves and adds capacity to a 1-mile stretch with a new roundabout along Bebee Road in Kyle. The east portion of the project adds approximately 2.1 miles of four-lane roadway and three roundabouts.
Update: The baseline construction schedule was approved in November for the western portion. The east portion's design phase is 90% complete.
  • Timeline: 2023-29 (entire project)
  • Cost: $19.9 million-$21.6 million (west), $42.3 million-$45.4 million (east)
  • Funding source: 2022 city of Kyle bond

A new shopping center, changes to local health care facilities and a construction milestone for a new recreation center are among the latest development updates in the Pflugerville, Hutto and Round Rock area. Check out these four development stories you may have missed.

1. New shopping center, flex campus planned for Pflugerville neighborhoods: Two commercial developments totaling more than 110,000 square feet are set to officially break ground in early April in Pflugerville, with developers targeting completion by early 2027.

2. Downtown East’s Monarch Recreation Center moves into next construction phase: City leaders, construction crews and community members gathered this week to mark a major milestone in the development of The Monarch, a new multigenerational recreation center rising within Pflugerville’s Downtown East district.

3. New multifamily housing underway at The District in Round Rock: Just under a year after Mark IV Capital broke ground on the infrastructure for its Round Rock mixed-used project known as The District, the developer and city officials marked the start of vertical construction on the project March 4.
