Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization requests public input for FY 2027-2030 projects

The Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization invites the public to attend a series of public meetings to review and comment on the draft fiscal year 2027-2030 Transportation Improvement Program. According to a March 17 news release, this draft outlines transportation projects and programs totaling more than $1.9 billion, scheduled to move into construction or implementation over the next four years.

The details: A total of six meetings are scheduled in different regions of the Greater San Antonio area. Planned meetings include:

  • Bexar County (Northeast): March 18; Northeast Senior Center, 4135 Thousand Oaks Drive, San Antonio
  • Comal County: March 19; New Braunfels City Hall, Tejas Room, 550 Landa St., New Braunfels
  • Guadalupe County: March 23; Seguin Public Library, 313 West Nolte St., Seguin
  • Bexar County (Southwest): March 24; Boeing Center at Tech Port, 3331 General Hudnell Drive, San Antonio

West Coast chicken chain to expand to San Antonio

A San Francisco-area born restaurant chain is looking to expand to Texas.

What you need to know: Officials with Starbird announced plans to expand with new locations in San Antonio and across Texas after signing a 36-unit franchise agreement with the Houston-based Mac Haik Restaurant Group, according to a news release.

Starbird CEO Greg Levin said the agreement reflects the strength of their business model and the clarity of their long-term vision. 

“As we mark our 10th anniversary, this is shaping up to be our biggest year yet in terms of expansion,” Levin said in the release.

While no specific locations have been identified, company officials said nothing will open until at least 2027 in San Antonio.

What they offer: Starbird serves a variety of chicken-based entrees and sandwiches, from fried chicken strips to gourmet sandwiches and more, according to the menu. The restaurant also serves specialty salads and desserts.
