Bear Hollow to bring 33 single-family homes to Southlake

A new single-family residential neighborhood located off of Davis Boulevard called Bear Hollow will include 33 homes in Southlake.

Council approved a zoning change and development plan for Bear Hollow by a 4-3 vote, with council members Frances Scharli, Chuck Taggart and Eric Wang voting against, during the Aug. 18 meeting.

The details: Bear Hollow is a proposed gated community with private streets, and it will include 33 single-family lots. The average residential lot size is 14,648, according to city documents.

The development sits on 20.97 acres and will include more than 7 acres of open space, per city documents. There are also two proposed detention ponds for Bear Hollow, said Jody Body, a manager with BridgeRock Developments, the site’s developer.

Some context: Council members approved a first reading of the zoning change and concept plan Aug. 4. During the meeting, council members provided feedback to the developer that adding a gate could make sense to deter truck traffic from using the neighborhood’s streets to turn around.

Daiso to close store inside Grapevine Mills

Daiso, a Japanese discount store, plans to close its Grapevine Mills location near the end of the month.

What they offer: The store sells a selection of household items, including kitchen tools and curtains. Customers can also find a variety of Asian snacks, pet supplies, stationary and beauty products.

What else: Daiso has other nearby locations in Irving and Euless, according to its website.

7 construction updates from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport

The Dallas Fort Worth International Airport Board approved construction projects on Terminals A, C, D, E and F and road work near the Rental Car Center during the Aug. 6 meeting.

The projects are part of the DFW Forward capital plan, according to the airport website.

Terminal A: A reimbursement agreement with American Airlines was approved for $6.5 million for construction of the Terminal A pier ramp space, part of the Central Terminal Area expansion.

According to board documents, the work will include interior reconstruction for offices, ramp-level restrooms, a breakroom and renumbering the north part of Terminal as the north Skylink station.

A filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shows the project will encompass 51,000 square feet and has an estimated completion date of Dec. 31, 2028.

Terminals D and E: Vanderlande Industries, Inc., from Marietta, Georgia, will provide operations and maintenance service for Terminal E and a baggage handling control room operation for Terminal D.

The $66.8 million has a five-year term and is set to start in October.
