Kendall County EMS pursues grants for rehabilitation equipment, ambulance unit

Kendall County Emergency Medical Services is pursuing a grant for a new ambulance unit following approval from county commissioners Dec. 23.

The overview: Through the Rural Ambulance Service Grants from House Bill 3000 under the 89th Texas Legislature, the county is requesting an amount not to exceed $350,000 for the new ambulance unit.

Grant Coordinator Christina Peese said the new unit is estimated to cost around $324,000, coming in under the requested grant amount. The new unit is planned to arrive in 17-21 months and will replace an old unit, EMS Director Brian Webb told county commissioners.

Alongside the grant request for a new EMS unit, county commissioners approved the pursuit of the Volunteer Fireman's Insurance Services of Texas 2026 Emergency Responder Health and Wellness Grant, which would give a reimbursement of up to $5,000 for the county to purchase rehabilitation equipment.
