Engineering firm selected to design downtown McKinney parking garage

City officials are taking another step in potential construction of a parking garage in downtown McKinney.

What’s happening: McKinney City Council members approved up to $411,500 for a contract with Fishbeck during a March 3 meeting. Under terms of the contract, Fishbeck will provide schematic designs for a parking garage at the corner of Hunt and Kentucky streets in downtown McKinney.

The proposed parking garage is part of an effort to redevelop several city-owned properties in the area. It could accommodate between 330 and 630 parking spaces on up to six levels of parking, according to Fishbeck’s proposal.

The details: The budget amendment and contract approved in March were focused on schematic designs for the project. During a Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone No. 1 board meeting, McKinney Facilities Construction Manager Patricia Jackson said the designs are expected to finish in a few months.

Officials intend to bring back at least three options for consideration, and each option will have an associated cost, Jackson said.

Mad Greens, Great American Bakery Cafe, Chili’s Bar and Grill coming to DFW Airport

The Dallas Fort Worth International Airport will have new dining options coming to terminals A and D.

During the DFW Airport board of directors meetings, new and amended leases were approved for various concessions.

What’s happening? In Terminal A, a lease with Mitchell Olsen Partners DFW LLC was amended for a quick-serve salad location near Gate A pier for Mad Greens. The restaurant, with four locations in the Austin area, serves salad, bowls and wraps, according to its online menu. The restaurant replaces Salad and Go, which closed all its Texas locations earlier this year, according to previous reporting.

Long story short: There were three changes approved for Terminal D.

A Great American Bakery location will be going in near Gate D34 and will be operated by Java Star Inc. There was a lease assumption from Host Java DFW, which operated The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf at that same location.

Trinity Groves Bar, near Gate D2, will become Chili’s Margarita Bar, and the Trinity Groves Kitchen will be replaced by Chili’s Bar and Grill.
