$200M mixed-use project, mahjong studio: Check out 5 McKinney stories you may have missed

Check out five recent business and government updates from the city of McKinney.

1. Craig International announces $200M mixed-use project for former Globe Life HQ: McKinney-based development company Craig International is redeveloping the former Globe Life headquarters campus into a $200 million mixed-use development called Rowlett Station. Craig International formally announced the project June 8, nearly a week after McKinney City Council members voted to rezone a portion of the campus for multifamily development. The campus is located on nearly 58 acres at 3700 S. Stonebridge Drive and includes 300,789 square feet of existing office space, according to a news release.

2. The Empress House debuts mahjong studio, boutique in downtown McKinney: The Empress House is now offering a space to play mahjong in downtown McKinney. The boutique mahjong studio and social club offers a way for beginners to learn about and play mahjong, including through their introductory class Mahjong 101, which teaches players the skills needed to begin playing.

West McKinney Dental & Orthodontics is now open, a company representative said.

A closer look: The practice offers general dentistry, restorative dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, emergency dental services, braces and orthodontics, per its website.

World record-breaking 'Tormenta Rampaging Run' coaster to debut June 26 at Six Flags Over Texas

The first “giga dive” coaster is opening at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington on June 26.

The details: The Tormenta Rampaging Run reaches 309 feet above ground and has a 285-foot drop, according to the Six Flags website.

The coaster comes with a new immersive, themed area with inspirations from Spain, according to a news release. Visitors can explore a fictional town called Rancho de la Tormenta Plaza and a new restaurant, Cocina Abuela. The restaurant will offer Spanish and Latin American cuisine like Spanish rice, chicken tinga and housemade guacamole.

The new ride is opening ahead of the Arlington amusement park celebrating its 65th anniversary Aug. 1, according to the release. The Arlington location is the company’s first location.

PS offers private luxury facility with transportation to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport

PS, formerly The Private Suites, has opened its location at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.

The Los Angeles-based company used Dallas-based designer Jean Liu for its third terminal in the United States, joining Los Angeles International Airport and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

PS offers a terminal option with private TSA and customs clearance, luxury spaces and white-glove service before and after your flight, according to its website.

The details: The 12,200-square-foot facility is located in Corporate Aviation, DFW Airport terminals. PS is membership-based with annual and per-visit costs, which allows access to a private lounge, food, drinks and chauffeur services.

A closer look: PS DFW’s location features The Salon, a social lounge with a 40-foot bar. Dallas-based artist Amy Berlin created the mural inside The Salon.
